High-Current Ignition Coil Drivers for M50 COP
While the MS3x has 8 coil outputs ready to go, they are intended to run coils with built
in ignitors, such GM LS2 coils.
To drive M50 coils, you will need 6x BIP373 ignition driver kits (detailed in the parts list)
a heat sink (detailed in parts list), and of course some solder and wires.  The drivers will
go between the output pins of the MS3x DB37 and the pins of the Motronic 3.3.1
88-pin connector.
I'll update this document with more instructions later, but my plan is to use LSx coils.
They will most certainly be cheaper than buying M50 coils and 6 BIP373 kits, and will
be much simpler at the same time, for both wiring and mounting.
Optional:  GM LSx coil wiring
It may make more sense to use LS1/LS2 etc. coils with built in ignitors, especially if
you are running an M20, which will be coil near plug rather than coil on plug.  This
eliminates the need for additional driver hardware and also eliminates high current
voltage being sent through the engine harness & MS DB37.
The use of LS1/LS2 coils is detailed here:

The stock coil grounds are done in pairs;
Cylinders 1-2
Cylinders 3-4
Cylinders 5-6
There are ground straps from the coils to the
block on the E36 as well, basically do the
same thing with pin A on the LSx coils.

A dwell figure of 5.5-6.0ms is advised for LS1 coils.
Maximum Dwell:   6.1ms LS1 coil output: 40 milliamps
Maximum Spark Duration: 2.0ms
Acceleration Compensation: 0.6ms
6.1 - 0.5 = 5.6 milliseconds at 14.0 volts

A dwell figure of 5.0-5.5ms is advised for LS2 coils.
Maximum Dwell:   5.5ms LS2 coil output: 120 milliamps!
Maximum Spark Duration: 2.0ms
Acceleration Compensation: 0.5ms
5.5 - 0.5 = 5.0 milliseconds at 14.0 volts
